EMO:

Emo is a genre of indie rock with its origins in Washington DC's mid-1980s hardcore punk scene. The first wave of emo bands shared some quite specific characteristics, notably a tendency for spontaneous emotional outbursts in performance, hence the name.
The sound was made more melodic by a new generation of indie-influenced bands in the mid-1990s, creating the conditions for its absorption into the mainstream. In truth, the term is now sufficiently broad to encompass a relatively wide range of music, leading to much debate as to who does and does not qualify as emo.


GOTH:

The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture found in many countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature, mainly through horror movies.

The goth subculture has associated tastes in music and fashion, whether or not all individuals who share those tastes are in fact members of the goth subculture. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a lugubrious, mystical sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from death rock, punk, androgynous, medieval, some Renaissance and Victorian style clothes, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair.

SCREAMO:
Screamo is a sub-genre of new emo. Songs are often slower and more melodic than in other genres, less of a "beatdown" and more of an opportunity for introspection. Screamo has been described as "mixing the literate, poetic lyrics of emo punk with a harsher and more metallic brand of sonic thrash, as well as using screaming vocals".
What's the look / attitude?
Not too dissimilar to EMO in the sense that simple black clothing and a hatred of the mainstream are required.

No, through fact neither are genetic. infants do not continuously finally end up like their mothers and fathers in each and every way. some goths have infants that are greater into the mainstream, on a similar time as a good sort of mainstream, conservative mothers and fathers have infants who p.c. out with the goth or emo subcultures.

listen to hardcore/metal/alternative/punk music.
i wear shirts that say ( haha. your funny drop dead ; or love is the funeral of our hearts; are you happy what you see ? im not)
and tight pants
with band belts
with buttons
and jelewery from the nightmare before Christmas.
take antidepressants.
and wear either bright eye shadow or a melody of dark colors. and aloootttt of eye liner aka guy liner and are in love with HOT TOPIC ( i know i am ) and JOURNEYS
and/or broken hearteed
usually when people think of emo they think of cutters.
but not its not like that.

Isnt it funny you can change your music taste to impress a guy, but when it comes to a guy or girl who likes his own music and his own style, you give him or her a mouthful?

To all you people out there who think this is funny taking the piss out of someone just because of what they wear and their taste in music. Everyone should be aloud to have their own tastes and not have to suffer for being different. Just because some people hate emos because as soon as they hear the word emo they think "ergh cutter". Its not all about that. Mainly what upsets people is you people who go around thinking you are higher than everyone else and pushing them around.
