Because we don't understand the nature of love, which in its most basic sense is a word used to describe the sum of all feelings we feel for an individual or an object. These feelings become overwelmly intense when we think about some we can accomplish so much for and with. But its the fact that we treat it as being the really defining element of a relationship, when in fact it is the friendship, the companionship that matters not just the love..... hence why we have so many abusive relationships out there and people justify it simply as "love" when it is love, but it isn't "true" love in a sense. True love would depend more on how true the situaiton is for the individuals not so much the love, even dogs love, even cats, shot alligators show signs of loving their kids. So it's because we need more then just love that we run into a confusing situation with it....

Real love isn't hard.
Love is accepting a person and wanting the best things life has to offer for them.

Love is accepting someone that way they are.
HOWEVER, life would be easier if they would change.
Love is hard because you also have to live your life.
