I have recently become a fan of this show and yesterday I was watching a re-run and aparently someone named Ben died; it seems like he was close to Dr. Cox and his wife.

Could you tell me who he was?
thanks

Jordan's (Dr. Cox's wife) brother Ben is at the hospital, and Dr. Cox is his best friend. Ben has a nail gun shot straight through the hand and J.D. faints from all the blood. Ben likes to take pictures of everything, and Jordan doesn't like it. Turk has surgery but just as he is about to remove a testicle they notice the patient should be Jewish but isn't circumcised. J.D. narrates that a recent medical study has found that a mistake is made on about 20% of patients. Todd comes into the O.R. as Dr. Wen asks if there is a mix-up as their appendicitis patient doesn't have an appendix.

Jill Tracy is back at the hospital. She has been travelling since her last breakdown and she's engaged. This makes it easier for Elliot to mention that her vomiting and nausea is because she is pregnant. Jill is confused because they haven't had sex yet. Jordan isn't happy that her brother Ben is doing contractor work as he keeps on hurting him. Dr. Cox and Ben want to go for a beer and they ask J.D. to come along, but as it turns out only as a driver.

Dr. Kelso makes it clear to Turk that accidents that nearly happened are not good for the hospital and the patient should never find out. Turk agrees to keep his mouth shut. Elliot races to Jill's room but Jill is already on the phone to her fiance explain she slept with other people. Elliot tells her there was a mix-up and she isn't actually pregant. At pool, Perry notices that Ben's hand is still bleeding. Ben also says he cut himself shaving last week and it wouldn't stop bleeding then. The two doctors notice that the symptoms and take him back to the hospital. J.D.'s job is to get the test results back. When they finally get back, it turns out Ben has leukemia. He needs to bring the results to Ben and Perry but he thinks about how much mix-up has been going on in the hospital lately so he says they haven't come back.

He goes on the hunt for the rest test results. Turk blames the admitting nurse who also mixed up his patients. Ted takes to J.D. into the elevator where Dr. Kelso tells him not to go looking for a mistake. J.D. and Elliot talk to Franklyn to check the lab results as he mixed up Jill's urine sample as well. Elliot pretends to cry so Franklyn agrees to check Ben's test again. But so far nobody has screwed up. He goes to see Dr. Box to check his blood smear. He wants to know if he thinks he made a mistake or just wishes he did. Ben talks to J.D. at the entrance hospital and wants to know if there is something wrong with him. He then shows J.D. some pictures from around the hospital. The lab results come back negative after all and Ben is about to leave. Just before he wants to take a picture together but J.D. asks why as he said posed pictures aren't real. Ben says non of this is real. J.D. thinks about it and notices how he was just wishing the hospital mixed up ever since he was about to present the test results to Ben and Perry. Ben has in fact leukemia.

Ben is/was Dr. Cox's brother in-law. He ended up getting cancer and didn't want chemo, and eventually died. Ben was played by Brandon Frasier.

Ben was the brother of Jordan (Cox's wife) and Cox's best friend. He was in a couple episodes played by Brendan Frasier (he got Lukemia, not cancer).

The episode he dies is probably one of the best episodes ever in Sitcom history. "My Mistake" is the name of the episode.
