The book is called One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by the late Ken Kesey, and it is considered a classic, because it is one. It appears on all lists of the top 100 books of the 20th century. It is an excellent book that meets the criteria for a classic - addressing the human condition and being written in beautiful prose by a world class author. You surely do not have to read it - unless of course it was assiged to you - however it is considered by those who know to be an intellectual book with qualities that put it on the top 100 list. Mr. Kesey wrote other wonderful books as well. I liked Sometimes A Great Notion. Pax - C
