Lie #1 Stay the Course. During an October 22, 2006 interview on ABC’s This Week, President Bush tried to distance himself from what has been his core strategy in Iraq for the last three years. George Stephanopoulos asked about James Baker’s plan to develop a strategy for Iraq that is “between ’stay the course’ and ‘cut and run.’”

Bush responded, ‘WE'VE NEVER BEEN STAY THE COURSE.'

BUSH: We will stay the course. [8/30/06]

BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. [8/4/05]

BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course. [12/15/03]

BUSH: And my message today to those in Iraq is: We’ll stay the course. [4/13/04]

BUSH: And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. And that’s why when we say something in Iraq, we’re going to do it. [4/16/04] etc.

The Democrats have a common answer to this: the actual undeniable actuality that Bush spent recklessly excuses the actual undeniable actuality that Obama spends recklessly (even although this argument is often not in any respect stated this right away). Bush's presidency develop right into a disaster. a minimum of, there is not any disputing that the Iraq conflict (favor I element out all the lies instructed to pull us into that conflict or the actual undeniable actuality that Bush's decision to invade Iraq presented about the go back to ability of the Democratic social gathering?), the Medicare boom (attributable to that regulation, Medicare is going to interrupt down in the subsequent few years), and the Social safe practices "privatization" theory (imagine what a disaster that theory to "make investments" Social safe practices contained in the inventory marketplace would were and how the liberals would have blamed this debacle on the "free marketplace") were terrible recommendations. so long because the Republican social gathering pretends that any of those 3 issues were good recommendations, the electorate would have good reason to reject Republicans on the polls. Obama has been even extra reckless or maybe extra irresponsible than Bush. i do not even favor to intricate in this, as each and every man or woman is nicely attentive to this actuality. If we proceed to have both activities decision purely on the speed at which they favor to spoil our u . s . a ., then this u . s . a . is doomed.

Is modifying the course slightly the same as a lie? Damn if that is the liberals definition of a lie, can a liberal ever tell the truth they have no frame work that they are willing to be constrained by.

Personally I always felt a stable governable Iraq was what the course he intended. Changing troop levels doesn't change the intent.

Before the past November elections he also said we are winning in Iraq. He didn't say what we were winning.

I laugh so hard when some poor soul comes one here and says Bush doesn't lie. They want to believe so hard that the emperor has clothing on.
