Fred Thompson for the Republican party. Very Reagan-esque.
Unfortunately, he isn't running yet, though! But I have the feeling he will.

Conservative 'small government' philosophy has never been factual. Reagan had one of the biggest governments with the largest debt since FDR. And, GWB has an even bigger government with a bigger debt than Reagan. The dems will raise taxes but probably only on the rich who received the largest tax cuts in history under GWB. They will probably restore the tax rate for them to 1993 rates that were under Bill Clinton. They should be at 1950 rates where they belong so that our infrastructure will be restored and our education and healthcare system will be number one again in the world and offered to all citizens. NO democrat looks like Reagan. Romney and Guilliani are proven jokes. We'll have a dem for president in 2008 for sure but it is too early to tell who.

Second part first: No. Sorry, the next President of these United States will be the winner of the Democratic primary.
To the first part: Reagan and Thatcher were products of thier generation. The current generations of Americans (and Brits) simply don't have the moral courage of thier predecessors.

I agree that we need a good leader like Reagan, and we shouldn't just vote for Clinton-Obama just because Bush is unsuccessful (at the moment). Who knows? Maybe Guliani or Romney etc will "shine under the spotlight", so to speak. It's hard to say so early, you know? But I just hope for this war to turn out good. We really need a good leader for 2008.

I do not see a viable candidate in either party.
These people up to bat next are more worried about getting and staying elected than they are in serving the people.
No on on the Dem's side has a clue.
The ones in the running for the Rep's at this point are lackluster.
Fred Thompson.... maybe... it is our only hope as a country as I see it right now.

If there is an HONEST election yes. I would welcome ANY of the prominent DEMOCRATS, preferably John Edwards. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!! (Reagan was NO bargain either, in that you reference economics, and is the root of many of the "deficits don't matter" problems in the USA that persist today.)

Tom Tancredo is the best in my book. There is no hope for the democrats. All of them want to over run Americans with Illegal Aliens, diminish wages and no upward mobility for poor Americans. NOBODY WANTS OPEN BORDERS EITHER!
