Call a pediatric nephrologist, look up the number in the phone book. They are the ones who can best answer your question factually.

A hard as it might be, try not to worry too much. One thing i learned this pregnancy(i am currently 28.5 weeks) is that they have to warn you about EVERYTHING!! And ultrasound technology is way better today than it was years ago so they are able to detect a lot more, even if its things that resolve themselves or whatnot. They will probably just monitor you more closely now, which is not a bad thing :) i know soooo many people whose baby had a cyst on the brain at their 20-22 week scan or extra fluid around the kidneys and the baby wound up being just fine. They look for everything at those u/s especially if it was a level 2 or 3 one. I know there are MANY things that CAN be a soft marker for DOWN SYNDROME, but trust me, those are NOT saying that your child in any way has downs, but rather babies with downs are sometimes prone to such things. Trust me, went through that after the quad screen test came up a possible 1 in 174 for downs, but everything ended up being fine!

Sorry so long, but hang in there, I am sure it will turn out fine, and if they were really worried they would have let you know!!

Good luck to you! I am sure you and baby will be just fine!

Pregnancy is such a roller coaster ride!!

I can't believe that they would give you that bit of news and then not explain what it means. Call your OB/GYN and say that you need to know exactly what that statement about fluid on the kidneys means.

Did they schedule you for a rescan? Did they tell you what that meant?? I would def. call the Dr. and ask what they meant if you didn't understand. You have every right to know whats going on. Good luck to you.

are the nurses concerned, have you got to have more tests, if this isn't normal then i would be alittle bit worried. My 2 boys never had this, but it could mean many things, ask more about it with your midwife

I don't know anything about it
But if there was anything seriously wrong they would have suggested a termination
