I quit smoking and havnt had any since..... But people who have never smoked dont understand and are ignorant towards it and just say 'they are killing themselves'. It is very insulting...One such comment I heard was 'who cares if they die, it stops over population'.

Also, whats the point in living without something you like doing? Most smokers love to smoke, I did. Just as people love to drink and feel 'loose' and party etc. Whats life without pleasures? Or is it that smoking is FAR worse than drinking, eating 'bad' foods, watching tv FAR too much, going on a computer FAR too much. But most of these people enjoy it.... Why are smokers being burnt on the stakes?

Good to see some people agree with me, while one thinks I still smoke and went on to say that he hopes I enjoy my last cigarette before I die with..someone.

Then there are the people who dont agree...

I said WHO ELSE THINKS PEOPLE ARE BEING TOO HARSH ON SMOKERS. Now I have examples in my own question of this insane hate for smokers.

One person has even said he doesnt care that it is an addiction, it bothers him you see. Im sorry that im ranting but once again you extremists have taken it, well to the extreme! XD

Seriosly, I can cope with having NO SENSE OF SMELL, maybe you can cope with smelling something bad once in awhile.

If its people smoking INSIDE that bothers you, tell them could they leave, they might just not notice it is bothering you. I always used to go outside to smoke...

On a final note, some of you need to grow up. Smokers are people too.

P.S I just noticed..... If you look at everyones thumbs up/thumbs down, everyone who agreed has a thumbs up (not from me....), and the ones that didnt have thumbs down. Could be a coincidence? But, you were quite rude... are most smoker haters like this? ^^ Take a look at yourself! :D

I am a non smoker and agree non smokers are the lepers of today's society's.

We do seem to live in a time where freedom of speech and free will is interpreted and executed by what Lainey of laineygossip calls "the minivan majority"

So it's freedom to say what they agree to and free will to do what they're willing to allow. Dixie Chicks anyone!!!

I agree with you, I too used to smoke and have quit. I think it is mostly the younger people that did not grow up in the 60's and 70's or earlier before they even found out how bad smoking was for you. And all the different studies they do about how you are killing everyone around you with second hand smoke which if you research this you will find that there really is no evidence to that back up those claims. And of course they don't understand how addictive it is but hey these are the same ones that can't stop playing video games or put down the laptop and blackberry, and those things don't even go inside your body to create a real physical addiction.

I think they're too harsh for the most part. I'm sure most non-smokers DO hate to be around smoke, but the majority of the reasons I hear for their dislike of it are ludicrous. "It stinks!." So what!? Cheap perfume stinks, too. Hookers who don't bathe after being with a John stink. People with sinus problems have bad breath. Lots of things stink.

What I find funny really annoying is that they use the excuse that they don't like to walk past smokers who are standing outside public buildings because "second hand smoke is worse for you and causes cancer." No, you're not going to get cancer from taking 2 seconds to walk past a smoker. Hold your f*cking breath if it's that bad for you. I have YET to hear a non-smoker complain about living with a smoker who refuses to go outside. (That, I do believe, is wrong.)

It is All part of the propaganda machine. Us smokers left it up to the Tobacco companies to fight for us and they sold us out.
In the 50's and 60's you hardly heard of lung cancer. Let alone how many died from it.
Cultures have smoked tobacco through the centuries and cancer was never a big thing.
They talk of second hand smoke then pull up next to you in front of a store with their exaust blowing concentrated carbon monoxide right in your face. Also drive 80 on the freeway, knowing far more people are killed by speeders than by second hand smoke.

Smoking bothers me. I hate being around stench ridden inconsiderate aholes who decide my air needs to be polluted. I don't care that it is an addiction. You chose to smoke. Just like drugs there are 12 step programs. Get into one and keep it away from me.

You are correct I don't care that it is YOUR addiction. Don't bother me with it. Do you want people shooting heroin near you? It doesn't effect you directly so why would you have an issue with it?

Propaganda machine my ***. Cancer didn't exist because people hadn't discovered it yet. People's life expectancies have gone up not down because people stopped smoking. Look at the WWII generation and almost every single one of them had smoking related issues because it was so prevalent. Stop denying evidence like the religious people do. It is real and billions of studies have shown it. Only a few studies haven't and conveinantly each one of those was somehow linked to the tobacco companies.

Because your pleasure kill others with second hand smoke that's why! You have no right to cause others harm. Maybe when you and Jennyann are sucking Oxygen with emphysema and lung cancer, you two can share your last smoke together? Smoking kills and you people can't grasp that it also offends others around you. It stinks on your clothes, you have yellow teeth(Thats delicious to kiss huh?)
Non smokers are getting the clean air they deserve.

They are not harsh enough. The same thing applies to people who play their radio too loud while driving. It disturbs others just like smoke does.
