why do people talk about other people behind there backs?

Honestly, for most people its something to talk about, a way to pass the time. Jealousy may be why rumors are started, but not spread. How many of us haven't repeated something we've heard about someone else, even if we didn't care?

The best advice I got when going into middle school, a long time ago was from my mother. "It's human nature to gossip and talk about each other, it's been going on for centuries and goes on in every facet of society from kids to housewives to tribes. All that's yours is your dignity and how you handle it when it's your turn to be talked about."

Though I will tell you the gossiping cuts down in college, because your not with the same kids for years and years. But the drama is bigger..

Insecurity about themselves. Talking about others and their issues, make us feel better about our selves. Some people grow out of it, others never do.
