I belive it would simplfy things at least my life anyhow. Both are southwest desert states generally speaking.New Mexico is a democratic state, and Arizona is becoming slowely, but more surely more politically blue each year.I believe New Mexico would benift because Arizona is the richer state and could use the tax money to udgrade infatracture. Also we would have a more powerful voice in congress as well due to the increase number of electrial votes as well.It could help us become more competitive economically with California as well. What do U guys think?

Arizonians might be upset that their tax money is going to benefit the New Mexico half of the state. Now, if you look at the North and South Dakota, or Virginia and West Virginia, then they could merge into one state (i.e. just Dakota or just Virginia) then large states like California could split north and south. I think it's good to have 50 states because it's such a round number, so we could split up states as well as merge to keep the number of states total the same.

I think we don't need states to merge for political and financial reasons!
