Do you agree with commentator Gary Younge, writing in the London GUARDIAN, that the Democrats are also acting in a cowardly way?

He says: The Iraq war is over. It is the moment for Democrats to show real leadership". The vast majority of Americans and the new Congress want Bush to fold the tent on his failed war, for which the Republican president continues to bang the drum."

He notes: "Like most acts of principle, making this move carries significant political risk. But not making it carries the certainty of thousands more dead Iraqis and hundreds more dead soldiers.

"To postpone withdrawal is simply to prolong the agony. Yet it seems the Democrats are set to cave in on their demand of setting a timetable, agreeing instead to 'non-binding benchmarks' on the Iraqi government, an impotent body that lacks authority and legitimacy. That would not be compromise but capitulation. "

Are both Bush and the Democrats failing us now?

fdj1 says: "you have a mental disorder its called liberalism" which is a pretty amazing piece of wisdom since I am a right wing conservative registered Republican and a supporter of Republican Congressman Ron Paul. But I guess some people prefer their easy assumptions to actual facts.

Okay you obviously don't have much patriotism the war is not over the George Bush is the Commander and Chief of the Military. I am in the Army National Guard and i am going to Iraq and it is for a purpose how would you like it if you had a ruler who killed his own people with chemical weapons or made it so he could always win the election or worse have ty's with terrorist organizations or how about not being able to defend yourself because the military is control by the dictator and yes i am talking about saddam. Iraq needed help and still does if we move out now then its just a ****** waste if we move out then the people who chose to live free will die in vain by the people who oppose freedom. You obviously don't know what patriotism is.

Do you have a brain? Did you not learn in school that Freedom isn't Free the blood of countless Patriot's are need to keep stupid people like you free. By setting a time table for withdrawing only tells are enemy when thing get tough we run like cowards you maybe I stand and fight for what is right. CNN and the rest of the Left wing media may have you believe the sky is falling chicken little. The media only shows what's bad and seems to forget Saddam did have weapon of mass destruction and he used then on his own people poison gas the last time I look is a WMD the mass grave 500,000 people don't lie plus we don't have a clue what weapons went to Syria before we toppled him and if you say this war was about oil you don't have a clue. If it was we'd all be swimming in oil, gas would be at all time lows last I look green peace has us putting thing in gas that may kill us just as fast or faster that would be ethanol

I am not sure what planet you are from but we won the war against Iraq years ago, oh yes, you must be one of those foreigners who are so worried about the US political situation.

Listen mate, if you would worry more about the muslim invasion of your country than about something you have no vote on, your life might be happier.

But since you did so well in cutting and pasting I will take a few seconds to see if you can be educated.

What is going on today is the use of force against terrorists, particularly al qeada, in Iraq, not a war, use of force.

Hope that helps

"Does George Bush have the courage to admit that his war is over?"

no.

what can we possibly accomplish over there other than setup another branch of american government? if we keep filling in where they lack, we'll be plowing their fields and serving them food before long....i don't think the dust will ever settle there. not while time hasn't ended... seems like to me half of them want us there and half don't....

if i remember correctly sadaam wasn't even the one who was responsible for 9-11 it was bin laden... why isn't bush crawling up his butt? the whole thing was over the minute he lost focus of the real culprit if you ask me...... and are both democrats and bush failing us now? every politician is a crook... repubs and demos alike....

You mean does he lack the integrity to continue to do what he believes is in the best interest of our country. Maybe you mean does he have the courage to stand up to those who are weak-kneed and want to roll over and play dead

Isn't it obvious that the members of the Bush Administration feel that common sense, politness, respect, laws, customs, human rights & ethics mean nothing to them.

This war will not be over until we kick the republicans out of the white house just like we did the house of representatives and the senate.

Get a clue you white, rich, religious republicans. America is sick of you.

our form of government is a messy slow acting democracy... it is failing to end the hopless military action in iraq quckly but as with vietnam it will eventually. totalitarian regimes can act more quickly but i don't think we want that.
