Just changed water in my tank of tropical fish, when I put in the bag of refrigerated bloodworm I noticed that I had 3 medium sized (but sore) scratches or cuts on the hand I used to put in the bloodworm. No fish bite in my tank but I'm freaked out now! (using the bloodworm for albino frogs) Please please help.xx

Nope, they can't bite at all. My guess owuld be you had the tiny scratches and something from the tank water or from the bloodworms made the scratches sting enough for you to notice them.

I wouldn't worry about it, the are just a type of midge larvae. What I would recommend though is that you get them from a reputable supplier, as I once got them from a local petshop and the next day ALL my fish were dead. And they were perfectly heatlthy prior.I was well gutted as I had just bought a gorgeous Betta to breed and I have never seen anything as nice since. Bah

Bloodworms are not even worms. They are the larval form of a species of midge. I seriously doubt they would be capable of biting anything in a larval form and since when frozen they are quite dead. You might have scratched yourself on the packaging for the worms or have already had it but not noticed.

yes bloodworm can bite once they reach their adult formation but it is very unlikely and you may have caught it on the gravel or some kind of object in the tank.

Nope they are harmless and good for fish unless I am wrong but I have kept fish since I was a wee nipper and am 30 now.

they are only larvae.I guess they could but i highly doubt it.Besides most of the time when you buy them they are dead already and in the freezer. So it is npthing to really worry about.
