well, when you say gameboy, i can only assume you mean "gameboy advance SP" - it is a solid player that plays hundreds and hundreds games, of which there are several mario games and other side scrollers - current price is about US $79.99 - new

the DS is a different kind of handheld, it has two screens, one of which is a touch screen. it plays any games that were made for the gameboy advance era, as well as the newer DS games. even the new games have some side scrollers that you like - current price is US $ 129.99 - new

regardless, both are, in my opinion, solid pieces of merchandise. super nintendos are great (i'm currently playing Lufia II on mine..) but both the gameboy advance and the DS are superior.

given a choice between the two, what i would do is get a DS Lite (nintendo doesn't make regular DS systems anymore) not only because it plays most of the better games available to the GBA (gameboy advance) but also because some of the newer games really are rather nifty. as well, even though i'm sure this doesn't matter to you, the gameboy advance either already has, or will soon, stop getting games.

they are diverse consoles. The DS is the greater recent one, able to playing DS video games to boot as video games from previous Gameboy eras. The GBA, even with the undeniable fact that, can not play DS video games. The DS additionally can wirelessly hook up with different DSes interior the area, or connect over an prolonged distance with WiFi, while the GBA demands hyperlink cables and does not have WiFi compatibility. So the GBA could desire to value much less, even with the undeniable fact that it basically can not do as lots. the only subject the GBA can do this a DS can not is hook up with a Gamecube.

you should get the Wii. You can download all of those old games that you loved to play, and play them whenever you want on your television.
