Dark is an expression of the absence of light - it is nothing, the same as zero, a vacuum and silence.

They are just ways that we describe the absence of something.

To ask the speed of dark, is the same as wondering how much zero weight a weight lifter could lift, or how we can build a machine to detect silence.

Speed of dark is just as ridiculous as asking the density of a vacuum, or how fast can a dead man walk.

What people are missing is that there are several ways we use the word light. "It is light now" does not refer to light the phenomenon. It is just making comment about the amount of ambient light.

When we say it is dark, we use for many states of ambient light, most of them never completely dark.

Dark is not a thing. It is a state of ambient light. It cannot travel, the same as slience cannot travel. Nobody seems to answer the question correctly, that is why I post this.

I cannot abide guess guess answers. there are a lot of young people reading this site and they go away with completely dumb answers, like the guy who answered why does Antarctica not drop of the world by comparing it to ice sticking on your windscreen. A kid reading that as the first answer will think that is why Antarctica stays put, while being oblivious to the silliness of applying ups and downs to cosmic objects.

Because there is no "correct" answer! The "speed of dark" is a nonsense term that applicates to something that is literally nothing. "Dark" has no mass, frequency, density, velocity etc. - it is simply an absense of light, a zero point in terms of energy.
However, the "speed of dark" can be answered figuratively.Darkness "moves" at whatever speed the light is moving as it "follows" it. (and light does not have a constant speed but I won't get into that)

And asking the density of a vacuum is not stupid, unless you are considering a truly perfect vacuum ( impossible, even in space) At all times, space is bombarded with solar wind, cosmic rays, magnetic fields and other things that keep it "imperfect".

I believe darkness is many times stronger and faster than light. The absence of light is complete darkness, there will never be an absence to darkness cause it just is,and remember darkness extends itself forever and does it immediately, not even sure the word immediately is correct, its just that it is..

Turn off a light, how long does it take to get dark? Much fast than light illuminates the same room. Darkness is always there doesn't require a source to keep it alive no matter what. Ergo darkness is more powerful much faster and more pervasive than light. Strange thought I know, but its there always and it is there forever with out having to go there. Light will never overcome its totality.

Anything that exists is an incident.
The speed of light is an incident and has a limit.
Dark is not an incident so it would have no velocity or limit.
A shadow is not an incident but it can traverse a distance.
By manipulating a parallax,a shadow could traverse a distance faster than the speed of light without violating "C"

The speed of dark is the same as the speed of light. How fast is the last photon leaving?

Next question.

Dear Nick S. I have come across many of your "answers" to questions posed by forum users. You are always very condescending, pompous, pedantic and annoying. If you cannot answer a question without trying to both insult people and inflate your own sense of self importance, please do us all a favor and leave. Hubris is not flattering.
With all due respect.

That's been asked many times and most answers are basically just what you said.

I suppose your display is too dark, and you are missing details of answers.

But you're wrong.

Dark is an actual entity... it's light that is zero. When we go into a room, we turn OFF the darks, and allow light to re-invade the room. When we leave, we turn ON the darks; which immediately plunges the room into darkness. Ever hear the expression, "Plunges into light?" Of course not - because light doesn't exist.

why do you keep asking if you already know the answer? sounds like you just want to show everyone how much you know. congratulations.

Grasshopper, why do you ask questions to which you already know the answer?
