You can take metamucil or the new clear "fiber one" which I add to all my family's meals and have added to my coffee..which takes like nothing and doesn't change to texture at all!
You can also take colace 100mg PO twice a day...three if you haven't had a stool in days. Senokot has the laxative effect, and can be used, but only short term. Keep drinking all that water and keep up the veggie intake!
Also, prenatal vitamins are very important to your health as well as the development of the baby....if you are unable to take them, then please consider flintstones children's vitamins, or the new gummy vites which are just like gummy bears!
Good luck!

Its been helping me to sprinkle some wheat germ on my food. It adds a ton of fiber with just a little bit, and also gives you a bit of protien.
I have also been told that consuming a table spoon of olive oil a day (either alone - yuck - or in food) will help grease the tracks a little.
My doctor gave me a list of approved medications if this doesnt work
Colace
Metamucil
Surtak
Fibercon
Thats all that was on my doctors list.
Good luck!

Fresh fruit or canned prunes are great for that.
Personally I always had good luck with eating lots of hot peppers, but that has certain side effects not everyone appreciates (goin' down down down in a burnin' ring of fire)

i had the same problem.... a lot of stuff causes gas and cramping. metamucil gave me horrible gas pain, citrucel gave me heartburn, etc....
i really like milk of magnesia! NO gas pain, NO cramping, NO horrible explosive diarrhea! just a nice, normal, painless bowel movement the next morning.
i had 2 different ob/gyns and both of them said milk of magnesia was fine.
cherry flavor tastes really good. :)
good luck to you!
and by the way.... cherry essence prunes taste great, and they do the trick, too.

You really need to up your fiber.
Fiber One granola bars are great- they have 9 grams of fiber- they have them in chocolate oat and peanut butter oat.
Drink warm apple juice before bed.
If you do not like apple juice buy Plum Smart- it tastes like grape juice.
