Uh, they are war mongers. The FACTS and ACTIONS speak louder than any words that the Republicans have said.
Face it, the Iraq war was born on lies. Who cares what he was doing to his own people...as if the USA was ever worried about anyone except for the fact what THEY could get out of the war.
Remember Bin Laden? Bush seems not to...the very reason for the "War on Terra" Oh, and I am an independent who is very much against illegal aliens breaking our immigration laws so you can't call me a bleeding heart liberal either.

Well, have you read history? It is a complex issue, but the reason Johnson did not run again was Vietnam. In other words, the party moved to the left, and he and his southern Democrats would soon turn Republican. It was Nixon's 'Southern Strategy' that captured the South from the populists that elected Rosevelt to the conservatives (ever since). The republicans became the party of segregation and war. The party has basically been a farce since then: electing people based on distractions like gay marrige, gun control, abortion, states's rights, speeches based no jokes and quips instead of issues -- all while our country falls apart.

I'd recommend for you a book written by the people who were alive during those wars. A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn compiles documents from before the revolutionary war to really give you an idea of exactly what life was like back then.
WWII was important. We could have avoided all of the others, although this would be a very different world if we had worked with Britain instead of revolting.

I am a democrat, and I am not crying about the war. I just object to the lies we were told to garner support for it, the innocent people who have died, and the mess that is left.
I don't agree with the necessity of some of those wars you have on your list either. Simply because something is history does not make it right. Don't kid yourself into thinking that all of the wars in that list of yours were entered into by us for noble reasons, including WWII. I am glad we entered into it, of course. The outcome of that war was a good one. But we did not enter WWII to save the Jews.
All wars have an agenda. I just find the agenda for this particular "conflict" to be distasteful because it is not in the history books, a tale written by the victors, romanticized over the passage of time. It is in the here and now and it is a shame that we let it happen. It is a war that was entered into dishonestly and will continue to have repercussions on Middle East stability and global distrust of the US for the rest of my life, and probably my children's as well.
edit: igottadrive, the solution to all this is impossible to attain. It involves turning back the clock, not electing Cheney's puppet, and never entering into this disgraceful war in the first place. So we are all, republicans, democrats, and the rest of the world, stuck with a war that should never have been allowed to happened.

First off when 12-7 took place FDR went after the Japanese. He didn't attack Argentina,or Nova Scotia, he went after the people who attacked us. BUSH needs dierections to find his own head, Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. Why are you so concerned about what he was doing to his own people? So far I have asked you Republicans this over and over again. Saddam fought the Iranians for eight years in the 1980's and he used chemical weapons on them. The Iranians lost 900,000 soldiers during that conflict. The Iranians blame us because we in effect sanctioned everything Saddam did.
What do you know about Vietnam? That conflict was started over a US ship being fired on off the coast of Vietnam. There was never any proof, not even one bullet hole to show for it and 10 years later and 50,000 dead Americans later it didn't matter.
The only reason we fought Germany was because they declared war against us four days after the Japanese attacked us. It was a case of if you fight one of us you will fight both of us.The Jews had nothing to do with it.

You are a sucker. Iraq was brought to its knees and watched by every military in the world. Why did the US have to go in? I'll tell you: so Halliburton could make money. It's the only reason available (though never stated of course) that holds up underneath all the talk. The 9/11 guys came from Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. Why aren't we waging war against the dictatorship of Saudi Arabia? Because they supply oil. I can't believe people who appear to be capable of thought (I'm giving you a lot of undeserved credit) still think that attacking Iraq was somehow needed.

I don't think Americans would have a problem with the war if they knew the reason for the war. Can you tell me the real reason for us going to war? I WILL TELL YOU WHAT WE WERE TOLD, BUT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T TRUE. To find weapons of mass destruction. We searched and searched and found no such thing. We later said that the people from Iraq need us to help them because of all the things happening in Iraq. There are other countries suffering from being mistreated by their government and you don't see anyone trying to help. We need to be honest and admit that we were wrong. You know what this war is really about OIL. President Bush owns an oil company. He gets paid 500,000 a year as a president, but makes millions in the oil company. Where do you think his concern is going to be? His father wanted to invade Iraq. Now he is following in Dad's footsteps. Do you know they protect the oil more than the people we are so called saving in Iraq? Our soldiers are dying everyday and they come back to struggle. You might say this is what they signed up for, but they signed up to fight for a cause. They did not sign up to help someone get more money than they already have. I will bet you that if we focused on how much George Bush is worth now vs. when he first became President of the United States you would see a difference. Open your eyes. I am sure if they started to draft people and members of your family were being sent to Iraq. You would be asking a different question. Why are we at war?
Our children will pay for our sins. This war is costing a lot of money and they are taking away money from the two most important programs in this country. Education and Health. Do you realize that companies in this country are now hiring people from other countries to work for them. Not because it's cheaper, but because people in other countries are more qualified. Why? Because we are not focusing on education. We are taking the money for education and paying for a war that we can't win. They are willing to die in that country for their beliefs. You can't win a war against people that don't value life and even if we did have a chance to win this war. Is it really worth it? Many of our soldiers are coming back with mental problems because they couldn't handle seeing people die everyday. Have you done anything for the soldiers that you believe should risk their lives? You need to volunteer your time at a hospital for people that have been injured from participating in this war or families that have lost someone to the war then tell me If your views are the same.

W should have done exactly what he said he was going to do. Take Hussein out of power and call it a day. Sure, he would have created a power vacuum, but no more than what is already going on. I personally believe Hussein needed ousting, but this war is going no where and has to end.

no WM D'S? my friend they a re right next door in Iran, think about it...the aggressors in both countries are Shiite, the grand ayatollah sistani (leader for life) is most likely going to use nuclear arms to threaten all who oppose his/their sick agenda, this is a regional conflict and a just war against a nation that is very aggressive and a threat to civilization and I defy anyone to defend the Iranian government in regards to human rights abuses.I believe we have a presence in the region to not only give the many good people of the region a chance at having a life free of oppression and keep a thumb on Iran. libs are clueless and their main agenda involves partisan politics, they trash our president and demoralize our troops and give hope to the terrorist that eventually the Dem's will take over and withdraw...their constituents are clueless cowards.

Iraq was not necessary it is up to the people to fix there own country just like we did with revolutionary war. Are you stating that we should invade North Korea because of what Kim is doing to the people or Mexico because their people are coming here to get away from their country. There are allot of bad people deal with it we will never safe. Bush or anyone else will come on T.V. one day and tell us we are safe now.
