This is in response to a comment made in one of my other questions, stating "You can't blame Mexicans for wanting a better life". If Mexicans want a better life, why is it the responsibility of the United States to provide it? Why doesn't Mexico work to solve its own problems instead of the president asking the United States to ease immigration laws?

Mexico's problems are not the United States' responsibilities. It's not MY fault, as an American from immigrants, that Mexico won't provide jobs because it is relying on the United States to produce all of its income...

Mexicans are always trying to make their country better. but its pretty hard to focus on changing your entire government when you don't have enough food to eat, clothes for your children, or a decent job or education.

You try to imagine just getting a new mayor in your town, no something easier, a new school council member, but you are starving eating one meal a day. And you have received a poor education so your english isn't great and you can't write well. okay, now get going. not so easy.

people come to america in hopes of providing a better, safer life for themselves and their family - they don't come here to make you mad.

Aren't you so lucky that you happened to have the fortune to be born in the U.S.?

maybe you should approach one in the streets or at McDonald's and ask them? I've wondered the same thing; but you must remember that all illegal immigrants aren't Mexicans, and that some people don't just come here to get jobs and have a "better life;" some come here to study and educate themselves.

you already answered the question. "workers living and working in the shadows say they can still earn more in the United States." in my opinion, mexico is NOT the best nation on earth, the mexicans came to United States of America, is the same reason that immigrants from others countries came here "to get better live". but US citizen are getting aggresive about immigration more if they came from mexico.

NOT ALL PARTS OF MEXICO ARE BAD. I WENT THERE TO VISIT MY HUSBANDS FAMILY AND IT LOOKED LIKE A CITY FROM THE UNITED STATES. IT'S JUST THE COPS AND GOVERNMENT ARE VERY MONEY HUNGRY AND WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR A DIME. IF YOU GET PULLED OVER THEN YOU OFFER THEM 20 AMERICAN DOLLERS AND THEY LET YOU GO FOR ALMOST ANY CRIME. THEY PEOPLE OF MEXICO ARE VERY NICE AND RESPECTFUL PEOPLE BUT THE PRESIDENT JUST WONT HELP THEM WITH ANYTHING. THEY MAKE ABOUT 20 AMERICAN DOLLERS A WEEK IF THEY ARE LUCKY AND SOME MUCH LESS. WHY DOSEN'T GEORGE BUSH HELP THEM WITH SIMPLE PROBLES INSTEAD OF FIGHTING A WAR IN IRAQ THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE ANYTHING IN THAT COUNTRY BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY CRAZY PEOPLE. sOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP MEXICO OR ILLEGALS WILL NEVER STOP ENTERING. A WALL DEFINETLY WON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. A LITTLE HELP FROM THE UNITED STATES GOES A LONG WAY. THE ONLY REASON MEXICANS AREN'T ALOUD HERE ARE BECAUSE THEY WON'T HELP FIGHT THE WAR AND REMEMBER SOME OF ARE STATES WERE PART OF MEXICO THAT THE AMERICANS STOLE. SO GEORGE BUSH SHOULD BE THERE HELPING ALL THE MEXICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not americas job to make iraq a better place but they are there helping what is the problem with people not liking mexicans. They don't come here and blow stuff up or crash planes, iraq's people do that, so why are we there. we should be in mexico helping them.

They feel most likely that Mexico is in a good enough state of development and feel obliged to come illegally to the States to help out here ! LOL

Ever wonder why no one has ever seriously suggested making Mexico a state or possession?

Because of the govt. The classes of people are simply to uneven to contribute to making it all better. There's really rich people and then there is extremely poor people. The govt. controls it all, that is all the really rich people want to stay rich so there is no progress for the poorer people. Plus the cops and govt. officials are all really corrupt. Again trying to keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor.

Since its inception, America has been where people who want a better life come. Whether it is for financial betterment, religious or political freedom, escape from tyranny, freedom speech, freedom to sit around on the internet and post/answer questions all day long - everyone wants to come here. America set itself up as the benchmark of freedom back in the 18th century. It's who we are and we have made it our responsibility, like it or not. Unless your forebears came over on the Mayflower, someone in your family was once an immigrant looking for a slice of the American Dream. Please don't piss on someone else's dream because it's the fad du jour.

Because they know they will not get away with the stuff they do here (protesting, making demands). So they come here where they know the liberals will roll out the red carpet for them, and give them all kinds of perks that American-born people do not even get.

And you are right. It should not be the responsibility of the US to make life better for them. Especially since other countries are always telling us to stay out of their affairs.

Mexico's government is corrupt. It does not care about its people at all. There is nothing that American can or should do to interfere.
