Now i live in the south, and here there is a cherry tree called
'autumnalis' that blooms in spring and fall. it has pink blooms just like okame or akebono and i have seen them do this as i worked in a nursery where they were sold. i do not know the availability of autumnalis in new york however, but you can probably find out online. these do not fruit, are ornamental only. it has the same cold hardiness as any other flowering cherry, i think to zone 4

Most trees bloom for one reason: Produce seeds. Nature makes this happen in the spring because seed production (which often involves fruit) takes an enormous amount of energy to do. Therefore, there is no natural reason for a tree to flower again in the fall, and you will not find one that does.

The only thing like that I've ever heard of are Encore Azaleas, but they're not trees. Trees bloom once, that's all you get.
