It's just a phobia. You might want to consider seeing a therapist. You could try sleeping with your tv on. This may sound wierd, but sleep with a body pillow next to you or lay on it. It kinda gives the feeling of another "person" in your bed. I used to do that before my boyfriend moved in.

Really, I don't know. But I am a woman and I live alone and sometimes I get a little nervous (I live in crime-ville Brooklyn, NY), so I sleep with a light on in my living room. I also leave the light on in the main hallway of my 2-family house. This makes me feel more comfortable - if I wake up suddenly, I can see my surroundings and I know that criminals will think twice about coming into a well lit house. I also sleep with the Television on, volume turned down very low. This makes anyone thinking about intruding believe I'm still awake, watching TV.

i have the same problem. when i lay in the dark by myself, i just think about scary stuff, so i have to take sleep medication when i know i wont be able to fall asleep, cuz i would stay up for hours. even if its just my dog in my room with me, i feel a lot better. so you should get a dog or some animal thats breathing so you know your not alone

Your question is two fold. So is the answer.
1. You are afraid of the dark because you are a pansy.
2. You are "afraid" to sleep alone because you are easy and enjoy sex on a regular basis.

Are you under a great deal of stress? Do you watch scary movies? Do you like mystery novels? Has anyone threatened you or been angry with you? I strongly suggest you get a nightlight and plug it in to the open outlet in your room. You cannot have too many nightlights if the dark bothers you. When we dream, our subconscious mind can wreak havoc
and a night light is in order. Please buy yourself one, or some, as soon as possible. Sweet Dreams. @8-)

You have a phobia, dear, the cause of which only a therapist can say. You might want to seek help, because I'm very sure you could get over this with ease.
