John Wilkes Booth. He was angry that the South had lost the Civil War and felt that it was Lincoln's fault. So, he took revenge. At Ford's theater in Washington D.C., Booth waited until the crowd started clapping so nobody would hear the gunshot. Booth then shot Lincoln in the head with a small one shot derringer. When the crowd finished clapping, they heard Mrs. Lincoln screaming. Booth then jumped off the balcony and broke his leg. He was later shot and killed by a soldier when he was being pusued a few days after the assassination.
