And the nasty surprse was that the powerful 300+ hp V8 engine was replaced by a 3.8 200 hp V6 engine.

And you paid top dollar for it and the salesman didn't disclose this nasty surprise to you before you bought it.

I'd feel like a complete moron who spent that kind of money without even looking at the engine.

Well, if I was buying a Ferrari, I would first do at least a little homework on the car to avoid nasty suprises... ok, actually, I'd do this on any car I was buying!

But since Ferrari never mass produced a 3.8 V6 engine... and only a couple V6 engines, I would think I probably had just made a steal at getting a true one off from the factory that had to feature an oversized 60s era F1 engine... and clearly, some kind of custom built transmission in order to fit it into the car!

But that's assuming you're buying a Ferrari where "top dollar" could be in excess of 12 million dollar... and not something that vaguely resembles a Ferrari and "top dollar" is maybe in the realm of $4-5k. In the later, you should still be happy as you got what you paid for.

HAHAHA That would put me into an oblivion of pissed off i've never been. First did you not test drive it before you bought it? Not only would the V6 not sound anything like a ferrari it would deffinatley not perform like one either. Did you not even look at the engine compartment? I know in my state a person who buys a car from the dealership and the dealership doesnt disclose that big of a detail like an engine swap, and you still pay top dollar you should very easily be able to take that dealership to court. If I were you I would call different attorneys in your area and see what their professinal opinion would be. That is considered FRAUD. I hope this helps. And i'm sorry for your crappy surprise

Well, you're supposed to look under the hood before you buy.
You can certainly tell the difference between a V6 and V8. Besides they always say take a car to a mechanic before buying. Too bad, next time you will pay attention.
