You want Big Band/Standards Singers, Crooners or Lounge types (some of the other answers have ANY 1950's type) - yup Bing Crosby is good, Dinah Shore, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Fred Astaire, Andy Williams, Doris Day and the like. In today's market, Rod Stewart has a CD out of "standards" as did Linda Ronstadt a few years back (w/Nelson Riddle). Michael Buble sings in that "lounge" style as well.

Dean Martin was a superb singer,Nat King Cole,Ella Fitzgerald,Bing Crosby,Debbie Reynolds. There are a lot of show tunes out there.Elvis started in the 50's.The Big Bopper;Shan Tilly Lace had a pretty face and a pony tail hanging down a wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk made the world go round;imagine him singing his hit song right before he got killed in that plane crash with Buddy Holly. What a loss!!!
