Most of the founding fathers were not deists by the way, only Thomas Jefferson. People of all religions can make wise governing decisions. There is no one ideal religion for the president.

Most of the Founding Fathers were Deists or Unitarians. They believed in the existence of God, but didn't think that any of the organized religions had any real clue as to what God wanted or what God's plan was. I think that's a good thing in the President: we trust in the power of a benificent and merciful God, but we're going to make law based on one person's interpretation of some fanatic's view of what God wants us to do.

to legislate what religion the president of the u. s. should follow is as bad as having him try to tell you what religion to follow.
religion is a matter of personal choice and conscience.

Anything religion but radical islam. As a Christian though, i would hope for a Christian president who would defend principles that i believe in.
