-7 = -7
x - 5 = 2
+ 5 = +5

If you can't solve this yourself you are going to have a very hard time in algebra class.

Everyone else did the same thing as me, but please choose me as best answer! PLEASE? Never mind, that's stupid- you'll probably think "I'm not going to choose her- that's stupid!" Anyway:
7 + x - 5 = 9
7 + 7 - 5 = 9
14 - 5 = 9
I just worked backwards, like this:
9 + 5 = 14.
14 - 7 = 7.
Does that make any sense?
It's really simple, it just gets really confusing because it's like a puzzle.
Your answer is: X = 7
