I don't know many countries that accept political refugees FROM the United States. Mostly it's the other way around.
You could try North Korea, but you'd be sorry.
Why do you think Bush wants to kill you? If you are in the service and he wants to send you to Iraq, you might be able to get amnesty in Scandinavia, but Japan sent troops to Iraq too.

You are entitled to seek asylum in Japan. You will be placed in immigration detention until your case is heard. In order for an asylum claim to be legit, you have to prove that the government is persecuting you as an individual not just that you don't agree with GWB's policies. Bobby Fisher tried for asylum in Japan and he spent about 18 months in immigration detention before Iceland agreed to accept him.

Why don't you go to N.Korea, Cuba or Iran
Japan is a friendly nation to the United States so not likely to grant political asylum due to the fact that you would have to actually be politically persecuted in the first place.
Just because you don't like the president does not constitute political persecution.
so get over it .

Straight answer: Yes you could, but you would not be free to make a life in Japan. Also, US-Japanese relations are very good, so if asked, Japan would probably hand you over. Extradition agreements between Japan and the US are very good. If you are running from the US government, you would be better off asking for political anmesty from a country that is not on good terms with the US. For you to actually get assylum, you would be able to offer them something for their helping you. So unless you are an ex-CIA or government offical with helpful information, even they wouldn't help you.

Japan accepts VERY few people from any nation seeking political asylum. (Japan is often criticized for its position)Those that they accept would not be from the United States, because the Japanese government and the United States government are allies. If the U.S. president is after you, then the Japanese would hand you over, especially since you are an American citizen.

!00% they gonna hand you over to the U.S government. Since the end of the world war 2 and the pacific war, U.S government has secretively controlling Japan. U.S even has a navel base in Japan... So it's bad idea to search asylum there...
