oh! well to sum it up in 1 word its being depleted!
CFC's found in aerosols and other products like certian plastics and fridges release CFC in the atmosphere.

CFC's at higher altitudes decomposes and releases a chlorine radical that is an atom of chlorine(note chlorine is never found as 1 atom in nature always as a molecule-that is a chlorine attached to another chlorine)

chlorine radicals are very reactive!! so any ozone molecule (O3) that comes along reacts with the chlorine radical.hence destroying the ozone.

The ozone layer is getting thinner in some areas due to the widespread use of CFCs. While CFCs have been banned for a while, they are very stable, and some countries continue to use them, so the ozone layer is expected to keep thinning. It has been noticed that the rate of thinning has slowed, which is a good sign. For more info, go to wikipedia or some other sites; there is a lot of good information out there about it.

If you are referring to the UPPER ozone layer, well, is becoming thinner and thinner by the year, because lots of gases formed here on the surface are lighter than air, and destroy the labile combination of the three atoms of oxygen, linked forming a triangle...(that is ozone gas) that mass of gas filters the ultraviolet light coming from the sun, and outer space, and thus, if thin or none at all, the ultra violet rays reaches us all, causin more global warming, skin cancer, etc
It has a lot of holes, especially in the South Pole, and getting worse....

Ozone layer have a hole and it letting pass some UV rays thruogh it. This layer protect us agaist thsi harmful rays and also we can live thans of that we need oxygen and that is not possible without it take the case of the moon no ozone layer no oxygen no live that is all.

It is being damaged by the gazes we produce!! If the ozone layer has too many holes, te UV rays will come through and damage our skin and increase the heat!
Go see Al Gore's film about it!

we are all hoping an identical element will happen with AGW--that it is going to likely be dealt with via international settlement and the placement will progressively strengthen, like the Montreal Protocol replaced into agreed upon to handle the depletion of the ozone layer. it fairly is the reason you do no longer hear approximately it such to any extent further.

According to NASA it looks like it's making a comeback.

It's getting filled with greenhouse gases from our cars (like out of the tailpipe). And also from factories, idiots with explosives like insurgents in Iraq and nuclear technology causes of the gases from global warming.
