Ya u r right evn iprefer truth but do we really follow wat we r sayin. look around we live lies , wat they show us on media is a lie and we believe it and want to be a part of it, truth is sour and People want to hear what they want to hear. so now wat do u say

Why do I feel that you're quite angry about something? I'm not saying you shouldn't be, but that's what's coming out. I also feel like you've thrown everyone in the same shopping bag. I like the answers of LindaLou & Chris F, in a philosophical way. But there ARE lies that we know are lies. "I'm sending you a cheque today!" & then, "It must have gotten lost," & then, when you finally get it, it bounces. Just an example. The truth isn't the same to everyone, but in a Newtonian world, there ARE lies. I've often been lied to. Personally, I can say in all "truth" that I never lie about anything. We need to learn to be selective. As for the media, yes, they lie too. I don't even watch TV anymore. It's so "silly." (Well to tell the truth, I sometimes watch CSpan, mostly Book notes, when I can tell at once that the person isn't bigoted or one sided, & has what is so rare--intelligence & a sense of humanity.) I don't think we ALL "live lies." Do you, really?
Edit: I gave you a star because I believe this is a provocative question & evokes many points of view.
Edit: Beautiful answer from Gaz; kc--I wonder if you mean "lie" or "wishful thinking" about something you don't believe will happen? I think we all have our dreams, but personally, I don't believe they're "lies." Dreams & wishes are natural. Perhaps you would be lying to YOURSELF if the wish is impossible, (at the moment--things do change!) & you convince yourself it's going to happen anyway.

LindaLou's answer is very close. At first when you think about things, you look at the things you know yourself that are true. On the reciprocal, you see what you know as lies. First of all some truths only go as far as that person, because the same truths can be lies to someone else. It is all in the eye of the beholder. Really how do we know the things we perceive as true even exist. We rely on things that could be lies everyday. We doubt things that could be truths everyday. Religion is a touchy subject because it is a truth to some and a false sense for others. My question: What is a truth, except for a lie that everyone believes?
Another thing, lies and truths can be inverselly good and evil. Usually it is the lies that are bad and the truths that are good. But what about the concept ignorance is bliss. In which you don't tell someone something because you know they would be better off overall if they didn't know. Example, if you knew you were gonna die tomorrow would you still be yourself today? No you would change the way you think feel and act. Where as just coming out and saying something like your gonna die tomorrow. It would be devastating to that person and kind of a cruel act.

If lies were ugly , there was no reason to create them , you creat lies to embellish , the reality , why do we need to do it if the truth is most beautiful thing around?
I believe , this is because we dont see truth clearly all the time . Lies are not more than FAKE FAKE FAKE . take time and think about whaere there is fake in your life, were there is lie(think what drives you to do what you do) , you will find it .
In reality lies is not beautiful at all , actually they are pretty UGLY.
Believe in truth simply because it is truth and this is the most beatiful thing(sometimes it is very hard to see it ) .

I agree with you , the are lies everywhere , we live a lot of lies - and we seem happy with it . I will give you an example : you have to choose one of the two :
1) go seeing a movie
2) you had won 1000$ , and you need to donate to those who really need it .
it seem that go to see a movie is nice , and be sure you are going to smile , and have fun - but it is temporary .
choosing the second , from first sight , what is it good to me , will it cause me happiness like the movie ? . of course not , the donate will give you much more happiness!!! , satisfaction , why you so happy to do it ? simply because you was born for it !!!.
so why if an average person have to spend 1000$ he will likely to invest all of them in physical plessure .and not uses 100$ for his temporary pleasure(which it is important too) , and donate all the rest ? why people going to the lies ?
I think it is because the attraction for physical body - it is immediate - and that is what we used to do , it makes us blind and we just dont see the truth .

i became into happy believing the proper lies....yet after a on a similar time as while each and every thing does not seem to paintings out the top effect makes you ten cases unhappier. The grotesque actuality can actual be a blessing in some circumstances through fact the harm on the top of the day does not look as heavy or long.

Truth is important as it is the essence of reality--the true state of things. Truth is not always pleasant, but that doesn't make it any less necessary. We can't live in lies, no matter how pleasant they may be. Although lies make up fantasy and fiction to a degree, we can't bask in a fantasy world; unprepared for the harshness of reality.

I would rather believe in the truth, because lies aren't so beautiful anymore when you find the truth behind them. I think people choose to lie because they want to protect themselves. I think people start living lies because some of them are afraid of how the world would view them if they showed their true selves.

What we see and what we perceive are at odds.
We see a beautiful flower and we acknowledge its beauty. A week later we see that same flower and it has faded, we say "Oh, how sad, the flower has faded". Our perception of the flower's beauty has a condition in our consciousness, the condition of permanence, yet our own eyes see impermanence, further we make judgement based on our false perception, we determined that the faded flower's beauty was a sad sight. We have not perceived the flower's impermanent beauty.
This false perception is what we base our decisions and judgements on rather than the true nature of our experience.
The "lie" of the permanent nature of the flower is the true delusion. Are you happy to be deluded and to therefore make false and therefore incorrect decisions, or would you rather be making decisions based on reality where your decisions will have more positive and therefore more controllable benefit...?
Personally I choose the latter, I prefer to make decision knowing the outcome rather than hoping for thus.

i think if i knew the difference between what was truth and lie i would be forced to believe the truth but it wouldnt stop me from listening to that beautiful lie. =)
i keep telling myself i will have that cool car some day when i believe the truth that it costs more than the house i live in, but i still listen to the lie that some day i can have it.

lies may sound good at the time but in the end truth is what really matters. there are two or more sides to every story but some where in space is the truth.
