A doctor will not give you a tubal unless you are 21 or have 3 kids. I think medicaid covers an IUD, which is a 5 year birthcontrol inserted into your cervix that is 99 percent effective, it works immediately and you can have it inserted right after birth. Nothing to worry about for 5 years and then you will be old enough to have a tubal.

PLEASE, DO NOT DO IT!!!!!
Use a mirena IUD. It is more effective than tubal sterilization in preventing pregnancy, does not require surgery and is reversible. You are very, very young and 2 children is not a lot. I have seen many many women like you (though, not this young) who live to regret this decision. Chances are very good that you and your husband may want another child in the future. Hate to say this, but chances are even better that you will be divorced and re-married and want another child with your next husband. Then, you will be looking at paying thousands of dollars for either IVF or surgery to try and reverse the tubal. When all you would have had to do is pull out the IUD and could be pregnant again. It's your life, but in my opinion, you are making a huge mistake that cannot be undone

Most likely they will not do the surgery because of your age, even if you sign a waiver.
Depending on his age he may be able to get a vasectomy, which is much less invasive and there is an easier recovery.
I suggest you get on some good birth control after the new baby is born!

Talk to your doctor, its much easier if you have it done at the hospital before you go home. But they would not do it for my daughter in her 20's because they said she was too young and only had one child. But ask your doctor, not the people here.

You'll have to ask the doctor and Medicaid.
If not then consider using Mirena a estrogen laced IUD....

Talk with your dr. at your next appointment. I think the procedure can be done following the birth of your child, but I'm not certain. Ask your doctor.

You say that now, but with time comes wisdom, better circumstances and a bigger picture. You might end up regretting it. Wait a while.

If you discuss it with your doctor, he/she will probably do it. I can't tell you how much it will be but I can tell you that medicaid will cover it. Or at least they should.
