The car hit my back bumper as well as my rear left tire. The tire looks fine but can that bump cause a wheel alignment problem or is it something more serious. After filing the police report, when I drove home I had to steer quite a bit left to get the car to go straight. I have a 05 honda accord and wheel alignment is only done to the front tires right? I hope it's not something more serious that will cost me a lot of $.

it was in a parking lot but he just zoomed out and hit me, not sure if it was above 20mph or not, most likely not

need more info about speed of impact.
if its high speed, (20+ mph) it's more serious than a wheel alignment. my car was hit similarly, and sent me off the side of the road. my car was totaled. sounds like by your difficulty steering it could be axle bent, or any number of factors. but the other person is correct. if its not your fault, you are not responsible for fixing it. the other person's insurance is. let us know how much a body shop estimates damages at when you get it checked out. you should also get some "inconvience" money out of it too.

I would take it to an alignment shop and have them inspect the left rear suspension for damage/misalignment, get an estimate on the repairs needed and submit it to the other person or their insurance co.....if you have to steer that much to go straight, something is definitely bent in the rear suspension and some modern cars do need to have a 4-wheel alignment done if they have an independant rear suspension versus a solid axle setup. Also, if part of the damage involves the shock or strut, they should be replaced in pairs which means you might have to pay to have the other side replaced as well.
Make sure you don't sign any insurance forms as full and final settlement until you're 100% sure there is no other incidental damage to your car or that they guarantee you in writing the option of reopening the claim if you do have future problems relating to this accident. I've seen situations where the wheel bearing sounds fine after a hit but then a month later, it starts howling and grinding and it's caused by the accident but when you go to claim it as such the insur co. says it's normal wear and tear. They also will try to make you pay a part of the repairs depending on how old your vehicle is because they are replacing your used suspension parts with brand new parts and you should have to pay depreciation on them. Just start saying you've got headaches now and a stiff neck and they'll want to settle real quick. Make sure none of these damages and repairs will affect your warranty, if any, also.
Good luck, Paul

The only question I can answer with what I know is that your accord shoulg get a four wheel alignment not just a front end alignment.
Yes potentially more could be wrong, withthe rear hub, wheel, spindle, etc but I would advise you to have an actual technician check that out.

Honda,s are adjustable in front and rear on the alignment.
You may have other things bent under the car to cause it to not go straight. You need to take to a shop to find out.

It shouldn't cost anything out of your pocket; you call the insurance company for the person who hit you, they arrange to have it inspected and repaired or issue a check to you based on a repair estimate. If the damage is only cosmetic and not structural you can just keep the money!

It's going to cost somebody. The back wheel is crooked, and it can't be fixed with an adjustment. It might be very unsafe to drive, and you have to get it evaluated right away for the insurance claim anyhow.
