It used to be the Republicans were the fat cats, and the poor democratic party was the party of the people. That changed in the past 20 years, and no one seems to acknowledge it. Everyone says that GW is a fat oil cat that is rolling in it. He is very well off, and will never have to worry about money, but look at his net worth next to Nancy Pelosi, or Jon Kerry (yahoo search it, very easy to find). If you do your research, you will find that the richest 7 members of congress are Dems. Democratic voters feel very strongly about the greed of corporations and individuals, and that money should be taken from the rich and given to the poor, yet why do they give their own leaders a pass? Look at the fortune 500 top 10 wealthiest people in the world....most of them vote democrat.

It's not the wealth of the party, but who the party benefits with their policies. I agree both parties have no real interest in the middle class. The GOP gives tax breaks to the rich, while the Dem's give our money to the poor. Either way the middle class gets stuck with the bill

You’re a little confused. As you must know, there are many rich liberal Democrats and many poor conservative Republicans. As for politicians, what matters is whose interests the politicians are acting for.
FDR came a wealthy old-money family. He nonetheless acknowledged the difficulties that many Americans encountered during the Great Depression and tried to do something to help. The individual wealth of particular politicians does not correlate to the amount of attention that they pay to the economic situations of the Americans that they are supposed to be representing.

The Republicans look out for the interests of the rich. Look at Bush’s tax cuts. The Democrats look out for the interests of the middle class and the poor.
The actual financial status of the politicians is irrelevant. Many politicians are wealthy. They don’t pass legislation providing funds for medical care for poor children because they’re thinking of providing for their own families. Think about what you're saying.

In order for socialism to take hold you have to focus on the separation of the classes. The more they criminalize the rich the easier it is for the feeble minded to believe that socialism is the way to go. Not much has changed in our society, it's the advertised view that has changed.

Don't you also find it interesting that in some of lib's arguments republicans are the richest and in some other arguments, we are the dumbest, poorest people around? They change it to advance their cockamamie ideas. I am one of those republicans who, in opposition to John Dean's assertions, "do an honest day's work."

Why do I think that few of the Libs will respond to this?
Wait, I know. The topic doesn't start with some Bush bashing.

Because Republicans are generally a hard working group of people who would rather make sacrifices and support themselves than go on tax funded welfare..you don't see them in the welfare lines so you assume they are rich.

They acknowledge it when they want to bash. They reserve the right to bash us both ways.
We are the elite when they want to say we don't care about the poor and we are trailer park trash otherwise.
