our purpose for being here is to say the prayer that the Creator(God) put into our heart at the time of our birth. When you were born(when you were a twinkle in your parents eye) the Creator of all knew you by name. He put a prayer inside of you that no one else can speak on this Earth. You and you alone have this prayer and the Creator wants you to say it back to him. Some people go their whole lives without knowing what their prayer is but you can find out easy. Just go to a place where you are not distracted and sit and talk to the Creator. If you don't know what to say just be quiet and listen with a grateful heart. At first you may not know but just keep at it and eventually the Creator will show you what your prayer is when you least expect it. Then you will know that this is your prayer. The Creator wants worship he wants heartfelt gratitude he wants you to say your prayer. He is waiting and is no closer that a word away

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The meaning of life is a question with as many answers as there are people. The answer is different for everybody. You have to ask yourself that question because your the only one who can answer it-what life means to you may not be the same as what it means to me.
And sometimes, it may not be something that is easily defined. You may not know the answer til you reach the end of it. I know I haven't come up with a solid conclusive answer and I've been around for almost 35 years and I have experienced a lot in that time.

Life is a continuous non stop journey that is designed to help people grow and evolve. Balance is a key factor in the journey of life. Everything in our universe attempts to achieve balance i.e. your body maintaining a comfortable temperature for the organs, the amount of salt in the sea, animals expelling carbon dioxide and plants in turn expelling oxygen. The percentage of each type of gas in the atmosphere. Everything attempts to maintain a balance. When balance is lost there is chaos, pain, hate, sadness. When balance is achieved there is peace, serenity, joy, happiness. It is what we do in the grand scheme of things that make it interesting. Some have the goal of achieving balance while others have the goal of achieving chaos.

I can tell you what I, a nihilist, think.
1) There is no ultimate meaning. We're born, we live, we have kids, we die. Our kids are born, live, have kids, die. No utlimate grand scheme. No big deal. This doesn't bother me.
2) Life is what you make of it. I'm going to devote my life to learning and being in love. Make your own meaning, walk your own path, and find people who think the way you do. I guarantee that you are not alone.
3) The fact that there is no ultimate purpose or meaning does not mean that there are no very valid, fulfilling, day to day reasons to live. You're going to die anyway, so suicide is rather pointless in my opinion.
