Could it be profitable to sell photographs? Do i need a business license to do so?
I am thinking about selling my photographs and would like to create a website. I take pictures of musicians and landscape/architecture in Louisiana. I have some really great shots and i have always taken the pics for myself. Lately i have been thinking about trying to sell my photographs. Any advice on how to start this new business venture?

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Legal Handbook for Photographers: The Rights and Liabilities of Making Images Paperback by Bert P. Krages

* Shooting & Selling Your Photos: The Complete Guide to Making Money With Your Photography by Jim Zuckerman

I also posted links to some free articles in the source box.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Usually you don't need a license to be a freelance photographer, and there are plenty of websites that will sell your photos for a small percentage. I have listed one below.

For a few pictures, NO, but if you want to do it as a part time job, then YES. However many who sell on ebay probably don't worry about such details.

ebay is a great place to start... lots of artist sell and promote on their...also if you have photography there are certain stock photo websites that you can submit your work to and big companys and things that need them for advertising can urchase them from you! its a cool thing!
