To convert your car to power steering will probably cost about as much as you paid for the car.

to start with, you need a power steering gear (rack and pinion steering unit) that has the hydraulic valving that provides the assist. Then the power steering pump and hoses and a new belt. You may also need to change the crankshaft pulley to drive the pump but the the chances are only slight on that item.

This is not something you can do in your driveway even if you can get the parts for a 17 year old car. You'll also have to have the wheels aligned after having someone install all the parts.

using new parts from the aftermarket and having a competent technician install them will run you about $1500. Its not worth it because that car is not that heavy and its really not that difficult to steer with the manual steering. I wouldn't recommend trying to do a conversion.

hope that answers your question

honda guy is right, but one thing you can do is use the factory size tires and air them up to 32 psi, that will help, but I think you'll get used to it,and even come to like it.I love the manual steering on my z-car.
