I see folks who care about details, but nothing larger. I also see folks who see the big picture and then investigate details. They are smart. The former is not.

An interesting observation there buddy. Either way, I think the only way to gain a true understanding of any issue is to open your eyes to understand something at a broader level. Most things have to be looked at with a historical perspective included and in these cases a greater understanding can be attained.

Not always true. Some people who obsess with details have 'issues' like an OCD. It doesn't mean they aren't smart, they may literally have a disorder that makes it impossible for them to relax and see the big picture.

Not every detail oriented person has OCD and I agree that those are the ones who waste a lot of time because they cannot possibly understand what's really going on since they ignore what's most important.
