Below are a few links of places in the area. There's nothing that is ever-so-exciting, but these may be a few places you can go. Remember that Wilmington, De is just a mere 15-20min drive away. (depending on traffic - so probably 20).
You want to be looking up things in the Brandywine Area. This will include West Chester, Chadds Ford, and Wilmington (as larger areas). I loved the Newlin Grist Mill when I was little. You got to run around and play, and then go fishing in these overstocked ponds. They give the kids velveeta to catch the fish. hehe :) The brandywine zoo is not too bad that may entertain the kids. Then there is longwood gardens which is really pretty and the kids can kinda run around a bit. Plus its leisurely and pretty for you.
Most of these aren't in west chester, but they are all close. Also there is the Booth's Corner Farmer's Market which is open on Friday and Saturday. Its just a bunch of shops, but it can be fun, there's a great Pizza place thats been there for over 20 years, and there's a cheap candy shop right up the hall.
Also there is public ice skating on the weekends at the Skating Club of Wilmington. You could go to the booth's corner farmer's market around lunch time, and then head into wilmington for some afternoon skating. You can also call and find out when the group lessons are on Sat or Sun. There are really great coaches there that love to work with little kids. I went there once when I was 5, and began and ice-skating career that lasted 12 years.

I was born right outside West Chester and these are just a few of the memorable things that I did as a kid.

Depends what you consider "near" and how "little" the children are.

Valley Forge can be nice depending on the weather. You are fairly close to Pennsylvania Dutch country.

i do unlike kinfolk pictures or albums. i won't make any in my grownup existence. My persons saved their previous photograph albums in a lower back corner of my mattress room closet, with the packing containers of tax place of work work. whilst i replaced into 12 or 13, i desperate to circulate poking by them. i got here across that my father had a 'first spouse' who wasn't my mom, and that i had a a million/2-brother I in no way knew existed. I felt betrayed by skill of my mum and dad for in no way having informed me approximately my brother or approximately my dad's early blunders, and that i in no way observed my dad in an identical gentle, ever lower back. From that element on, kinfolk photograph albums have been keepers of unfavorable and traumatizing secrets and techniques; like how the internet captures and holds directly to each stupid ingredient you ever say or do on line, obtainable for reference years and years once you comprehend extra useful. That stated, my kinfolk photograph albums additionally incorporate the smiling pictures of kinfolk who ended up assembly somewhat unhappy and tragic ends. i do no longer choose to be reminded that those moments (on the bowling alley, at a park, at a action picture) all those years in the past, have been the suited it ever have been given for them. It makes me sense like i've got already experienced the suited i'm going to ever adventure, and now it relatively is downhill from there until eventually I die. whilst kinfolk photograph albums make you pick to mourn the pitiful lives your loved ones contributors lived, you have a tendency to stay away from them.
