Have you done this before?
I don't know about 'damaging' your power steering, but you NEVER want to coast with your engine off. This is because your power steering and/or brakes may not work correctly without the engine at least idling. You may get one or two good turns or pumps of the brake, but if you go far you will no longer be able to turn or brake well.
Of course, most of my experience is with American trucks with very little electronic equipment. Maybe this isn't an issue any longer?
Either way, if you haven't done it before, be careful.
BTW.....if you meant coasting with your car/truck out of gear, then I don't believe you'll damage your power steering.

No.
Generally speaking, nothing in the power steering system needs lubrication when the car is only coasting. The parts just don't move that much to require pressure feed. Only the power steering pump (turned by the engine) needs lubrication, but it only needs it when the engine is spinning it.
The greater liklihood is damage to the transmission in certain cars. Some cars can be towed only 50 miles without the engine running and the fluid pump in the tranny pumping, some not at all. Coasting is like being towed.

You cant damage your power steering by coasting, if your going down hill on a straight run. But you will damage the rest of the car and yourself possibly if you need to stop or make an defensive maneuver to get out the way of lets say, A KID CHASING A BALL ACROSS THE STREET. Your call!!!!
good luck

No but you will wear out your starter doing that. the most damage done to a car is when you start the engine. So its best to let the engine run unless you are coasting like 100 miles

Yes. When you run into the tree because you coasted with no power steering or brakes, it could hurt the unit.

it depends,if yo vehicle have a rack or box, i have worked on both types of systems, but the 1 which had most damage was the box due to lack of oil, when yo engine is off the pump would be off, if you continue to do this in the long run you would be damaging which ever system yo vehicle has. I would suggest gliding with yo engine idling, you would still be saving fuel.

no it wont, but turning off the engine to save gas wont help you it takes more gas to start it again than to just leave it running

No just as long as you do not have to turn, but coasting is illegal in most states, check with your local law enforcement agency.
