Its so that it follows your normal cycle rather than confusing your normal cycle, you get withdrawal bleed during the 7 day duds, so its like you have a regular period. Its mostly just so you dont have to get used to a new cycle i think...

Because that is what your doctor told you.

Mine told me the Sunday after my period ended.

well i started on a sunday i didnt follow the instructions and am still ok no pregnant
