Australia have just completed a hattrick of victories winning the WC2007 in four final appearances. Australia don't depend on a few players to click all the time whereas Indian team always looks to particular players to clock always.

Reasons:
Australia didn't win a World Cup until AB took over. When Allan Border took over as Captain, he brought a level of professionalism that made the Australian Cricket Board (as it was then known) realise that second best is pathetic, when you can be the best. So, on and off the field, the Australian Cricketing system built up a team of people that brought professionalism, in the desire to make Australia the number one cricket nation.
India seems to lack the ability to have more than 1 or 2 players shine throughout a tournament. In 1983, I feel there is no way they would've won the World Cup, if it wasn't for Kapil Dev... He rescued them on several occasions, none more famous than clubbing 175 not out of 138 balls, after Zimbabwe had them reeling at 17 for 5 at one stage. Since then there has been something of a reliance on a single player, whether it be Azharuddin in '87 and Sachin Tendulkar since 1992 to bail the Indians out and star on their way to series or World Cup victories... Once the Indians realise it takes 11 players performing reasonably consistently to win a World Cup, then they'll be a dangerous team to beat.

Well my friend you are a bit out of date. India exited after the first round and Australia went on to win the Cup undefeated and unchallenged.
Australia has won the Cup 4 times. These being 1987 then 1999,2003 and now 2007. The first country to win a "hat trick " of World Cups.
India has won it once in 1983.
The difference I feel is that India suffers from rampant corruption, the team is not selected on merit. Whereas the Australian group are merciless in selection criteria. No sentiment is allowed, you perform or you don't get into the side.
We have a better work ethic and play as a TEAM not Prima Donna's as India appears too!

So far Australia havewon World Cup 4 times, West Indies 2times.India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan one time each.
The reason for Australia winning the world cup 4 times is simply because they have a very strong and best team with lot of determination and mental as well as physical toughness

Aussie had taken 4 WC and india Get only 1 Wc in 1983. teh reason behind this that Aussie worked very hard, they always thing new. they have time for only Pratice.In india the players are busy in Politics, modeling. So we have only 1 WC.
