I've bitten my nails since I was about 8 years old (just over 20 years). I stop every year or so and let them grow but they get really annoying, cause problems and snap off all the time. Honestly, since I've been on meds for anxiety and depression, I've been biting them less. I don't have gross bloody fingers anymore.
Before I bit my nails, I had a nervous habit as a child where I picked at my earlobe until it would bleed. Gross, I know.

actually, a nail clipper. i dont like long nails, i cant function with them and they drive me crazy and i cant stand when people bite their nails! That is such a nasty habit! Just think of all the crud under your nails you are putting in your mouth! YUCK
