you should talk to him/her and let them know how you feel. obviously they are not going to quit but maybe just asking that they dont smoke around you will help. if they are in the car with you they dont smoke, at your house they go outside, and if you are at their house....well you might have to find a compromise on that one.

"Hard to deal with" is easily translated to "I don't want to put up with it". People have 'dealt with' smokers, whether they smoked or not, for decades.

You don't like it? Great. Let the smoker know that it bothers you and you'd prefer to do things in venues where smoke is not an issue.

Want them to stop? Great. Suggest a couple websites, then support them as they struggle to deal with the incredible addiction involved.

Mostly, however, this is all about you and your choices. You can choose to put the smoke over the friendship, or not.

There is no way to deal with this other than telling your friend that the smoke is really bothering you. You can actually get cancer (2nd hand smoke) before your friend does?

you either love your friend for whom they are or you can just let them go if you find them difficult to deal with then you need to just cut your loses and move on and leave that bug alone....but if you really care for this friend then you have to realize that every singe person on the face of this earth has flaws and things that agravate us to no end but that is what we have to put up with if we love someone or are friends to someone.....remember no one is perfect .....not even you.....
