There are a "few" things that are a plus to growing old, and lack of memory is one of them. Calling someone by the wrong name is embarrassing though.

I've rarely do it. I usually say, "I'm so sorry, what was your name again?" The few times I've called someone by the wrong name, we just laughed about it. I get my friends names confused sometimes and they do the same to me. It's not that we forget, it just happens when we're talking really fast. My friend called me by her husbands name once. I just laughed.

If it's just a slip and I accidentally say the wrong name, it doesn't bother me.
If I just didn't know their name, and thought their name was something else and called them that, then I would be embarrassed.

I'm not that bothered.
Worse things happen at sea, for example the sinking of the Titanic.

Bad- but then I say "sorry, senior moment" or something of that kind and blame it on my bad memory/thinking about the person that you just mentioned and move on.

Bad...and I immediately apologize afterward. But sometimes people don't bother to even correct me which I think is weird.

When I was younger I got offended. Now older, I correct them. Just that simple.
