A friend of mine took one hit of Marijuana at 24-25 weeks of pregnancy. She also inhaled it second hand. Does anyone think that is enough to hurt her baby?

Well some people on here that would want you to think that so strap yourself down and get ready for some criticism. But the answer is NO. If that was the case than no one from my generation would have survived the seventy's, but I still wouldn't recommend it.

It can cause low birth weight if she does it everyday.
But it can also help if she has severe morning sickness.
meaning if hse has been in the hospital numerous times and still can't hold food down.

My sister was admitted in the hospital 7 times during her pregnancy.from month 1-41/2 She had severe morning sickness and couldn't even hold down water. She had lost 20 pounds. So she took two pulls on a joint and was able to eat an actual meal and keep it down. My neice was born at 341/2weeks but that was due to pre eclamsia and toxicemia and she was able to come home from the hospital with her mother after there normal 2 days stay. She was beathing perfectly on her own and keeping her temp, and was able to feed from a bottle. My neice is now 3 and smart as a whip
Now I'm not saying it's okay. Don't get it twisted. just no what the consequences are before hand

If she only did it once, then it more than likely will not harm her baby. However; if she continues to use marijuana then there is an increased risk of her harming her baby. As her friend, you should really talk with her about the use of drugs while being pregnant, and she may not care but it's your duty as a friend to try and at least put her in check, and then after that it's her problem to deal with. I hope her baby is okay.

Simply put, no. Not that I'm advocating drug use while pregnant AT ALL, but that small of an amount in an isolated incident isn't something to stress over, though in the future your friend should be more considerate of the life growing inside her. Wait til after the birth to celebrate...then it's only her lungs and brain cells being damaged.

lol thats just dumb. and i advocate the use of marijuana in almost any situation. give that baby a fresh start at life, then if s/he should choose to smoke on his own he will have had a healthy upbringing and brain to make it a positive thing in his life.

No. Chronic abuse is a problem, but one hit isn't going to cause harm. If there is something wrong with her baby, it's not because she had one hit of pot. But still, better safe than sorry, and hopefully she's abstaining now.

Unfortunately a friend of mine smoked with both of her kids. They are 6 and 2 and perfectly normal. I doubt a hit or two will harm the baby.

No my husband's mom smoked everyday with both him and his brother and they perfectly fine. I was around it all the time when I was pregnant and my son is perfect. He has no health problems and he actually scored a 9.3 on his APGRAD test when he was born. So he is fine. Tell your friend its okay no biggie. Smoking cigarettes is worse than an harmless HERB.

There is no evidence that it even crosses the placenta during pregnancy, but that's not a reason to do it.

No, she didn't hurt her baby, but she should really abstain from it while she's pregnant, because if given probable cause, they could drug test HER at the birth, and THAT could be a problem.

NO WAY ! but any inhaled smoke is not good on a fetus..... only in secnificant amounts does reasearch show it causes harm.... (I know someone who smoked thier whole preg. and baby weighed 10 lbs., but still a risk and not fair to baby !)
