Because of the privacy rights granted to us by the Constitution. The people who wrote the Constitution knew what it was like to have the British government open their mail, that's why they made the law to protect themselves and us.

It will happen if Americans don't voice there opposition. We could lose our privacy little-by-little

who says they aren't? In the city where I live there are cameras on the traffic lights, and on billboards lining the freeways, The government can access our phone records, listen to our calls, access anything they want. They can monitor the citizens who send money abroad.......... slowly but surely our rights are being taken away and they call this DEMOCRACY
