Of course you"re being ripped off when you can just turn on your faucet and put your own into a bottle. When I want spring water I go to a spring and bottle my own.

I only buy it sometimes because my tap water tastes funny. I think I have really old nasty pipes running through my building and sometimes my water is a little yellowish. Bottled water is lame but sometimes it doesn't taste as bad as the water at home.

BTW, my mom has a well in her backyard. The water comes from there (no fluoride). One year, a woodchuck got into the well and drowned. Every time we turned on the faucet, the house smelled like a rotting corpse. We don't know how long we were drinking the water before we realized something had died in the well. Our water supply was contaminated because of one lousy woodchuck. We had to get bottled water for awhile after that.

Yes you are being ripped off. I have read news reports that indicate that bottled water MIGHT be healthier because all the minerals are reduced, but still paying for water is stupid. Why do it now? Wait until bushy runs this country into the ground and see how much u like paying for water after that.

Water is tasteless but minerals aren't.

You're paying for the bottling company to remove other things (like chlorine) from the water but in the process they also remove the minerals that are good for you - and then add them back to give it taste.

Health wise, tap water may be just as good for you, but some people like the eliteness of drinking "pure" water.

If your only condition for the standard of a bottle of water is the colour, odour and taste then I'm glad you're not in charge of the waterboard.

There are numerous colourless, odourless and tasteless poisons out there, you know.

Basically you're right though. Buying bottled water is for pansies. I prefer the tap... that's what it's there for.

Some people buy it because they think it's safer. Tap water is actually better for you because of the minerals and fluoride that is added to it. It's a waste of money.

Tap water contains chlorine and other additives, and in many places, has an unpleasant taste.
