Well it sounds like he believed it. Probably a good thing if he isnt on your list of closest friends still. The fact that he told you indicates at least from the fictional representations that he was a wanna be.. cause fictional vamps seem to try to keep their true status pretty secret. You know ..to avoid the stakes and holy water bearing peasants.

Perhaps he was an actor training for the role of a vampire. Hmmmm. As for me, I've only met the psychological vampires, the ones that steal emotional energy rather than hemoglobin, Just be careful not to utter the words, "bite me"

There are people who believe themselves to be vampires either in a spiritual sense, or think they are genetically different from humans. There are also "lifestylers" who live the life of a vampie, and call themselves vampires. There's no proof of the later of course. I suspect your vampire would fall under the category of lifestyler, who may or may not believe spiritually or phsycially he was a vampire. And yes, I've met some.

I've only met one blood drinking vamire before, in the sense that he lived a life like a vampire but wasn't actually one. He did look the part! I never asked him where he got his blood from, didn't particularly want to hear the answer!!
I've met hundreds of psychic vampires though just as most people have, they are the people who feed off other people's energy and after spending 10 mins with them you walk away feeling absolutely drained of energy and deflated and you were fine before you met them.
This happens every single time you see them, even putting up psychic barriers to sheild yourself from this doesn't always work.
Most psychic vampires don't do this on purpose, most of them don't even know they're doing it, they just walk through life wondering why people never stick around in their lives too long, or why people are always rushing off or making excuses not to meet up etc.

You can't train to be a vampire. You're either born one or you're not. A vampire is one of many words for a certain bloodline that has existed in this world since time began. They were called vampires because they drank the blood and ate the flesh of people. There are other reasons they are called vampires, but I won't go into that here. They don't sport fangs and wear capes. That's fantasy. He wasn't pulling your leg, he's pulling his own.

relies upon on what form of vampire you're speaking approximately - in case you advise the action picture form that runs around in a cape and sucks the blood of maidens then I doubt you will ever meet on in individual, in the event that they even exist. even with the undeniable fact that, there's a medical condition suggested as porphyria that circumstances the affected person to present with a choose for blood through a loss of manufacturing of heme of their blood. [a million] that's believed to be between the roots of the modern blood sucking vampire legends alongside with different legends that could desire to take place through bodies not decomposing of their graves in the time of long, harsh winters.

There are more than one kind of vampire. I'm not referring to those who would like to believe they are one, and do everything they can to fit the Hollywood or Anne Rice stereotype, but the vampires that suck up your energy just by being negative, vampires that suck up up your dreams, those that suck your wallet dry, those that drain your self esteem away. Anyone that harms you by taking a little of you each day, are vampires in my book.
Of course this bozo was pulling your leg, if real vampires, actually existed, we would know by now. For fun watch a movie with Nicholas Cage, Jennifer Beals and Maria Conchita Alonso. Lots of laughs.

I think it was real
You should have checked his fingertips though,
If they had scars at the end, he'd be a vampire
In order to become a vampire, you must be blooded by a full-vampire
To be blooded, the vampire must pump some of their blood into you, and your blood into them.

There is no such thing as a vampire except the vampire bat. The rest is Gothic fiction.
