well if we were to use our current attitude towards iraq as the standard, then that would mean that where ever there is a disaster, the federal govt should completely underwrite that regions economy and should never hold that region to any timetable for being on their own or any progress benchmarks to when the federal aid will stop.

and any who talk of such benchmarks will be branded as unpatriotic.

i don't know about you, but i think that sounds pretty silly...
