The only reason to call it anything other than a jackal is to differentiate it from another nearby jackal, which by an external, visual positive identification is a male. Since the genus of jackal includes the Latin word for "dog", one may safely assume the it is proper to refer to the male as "the dog" and the female as "the *****".

Well, I think it is a member of the dog family, and it would be a bi-ach. Don't know for sure, we don't have Jackals in my neck of the woods.

What do you call a female jackal????
If she is a Republican, you call her "Mrs. Jackal".
If she is a Democrat, you call her "Ms. Jackal" or the hyphenated version "Ms. Jac-Kal".
If she is neither a Democrat or Republican, you call her "one smart jackal".

Better not call her, she may bite you.
Mishi, mishiii ( oh, no , that's for cats...)
"Hey, female jackal come over here, eat me!" may work better...
