If it's better for your life, then do your best to return to work. I wouldn't sacrifice the quality of my life for a lawsuit.
Many people recover from injuries better when they resume their normal activities as soon as possible, in a sensible way.
As for the ramifications for your lawsuit, only a lawyer can advise you on that. Just don't make yourself sicker, or lose money, trying to get more in a law suit.

You should only sue if the problem is so bad that you are unable to work. Then you'd be suing for lost wages. Insurance should cover the medical checkup. What else do you need?

I'd check with your doctor. If you go back to work too soon, you could make your injury worse and it could jeopardize your claim. You should also speak with a lawyer - most reputable lawyers will give you a free consultation.

If you are able to go back to work immediately it won't seem like the injury's sustained were very serious. They will use something like that against you in court.
