Leftist hypocrisy! Plain and simple.
The left only supports freedom of speech if it's their own. Just look how *invited* conservative speakers are treated at colleges around the country.
I am also stunned at the alarming number of lefties who whine so much about Fox News - I've even seen some idiots claim it should be shut down. Yet they call *us* fascists....amazing, isn't it?

Yeah, all liberals are exactly alike. They all eat at the same restaurants, like the same drinks, have the same hair color, drive the same car, live in the same city, wear the same clothes, listen to the same music and have the same job... all of the millions of them. I guess by this logic that all conservatives are exactly the same too. If I remember correctly (and I do) you were considered "unpatriotic" if you opposed the invasion of Iraq. Looks like maybe it should have been fashionable considering the results. You have the right to say what you want as long as they have right to say what they want within the legal limitations of free speech. I'm a moderate that is conservative on some issues and liberal on some others - no liberals and no conservatives are exactly alike and you need to learn that lesson right now.

Given some of your other answers, I will pretend like you don't complain every step of the way.
However, in order to answer your question, I will speak for myself only, as I do not claim to represent all liberals, even though your generalization is clear.
The problem lies in Conservatives' willingness to continuously repeat the same talking points over and over without any regard to another opinion. Even when things have been proven to be false, retracted or otherwise debunked, the same lies see to resurface.
The only explanation is that certain people either don't care about their falsities and actually wish to continue spreading lies to further polarize, or just aren't paying enough attention or have the desire to learn something new.
Regardless, freedom of speech is granted, but lies that perpetuate harm or wrongdoing is not a freedom that should be granted. If you are so ingrained in your set of beliefs or values at the exclusion of all others, you will only succeed in isolation with no other weapon than fear and humiliation.

heavily, as a Buddhist and a Vedantist i'm advantageous with it, and that i often like the atheists i be responsive to greater constructive than the theists--besides the undeniable fact that I do have very lots of sympathy for the gods, and goddesses, of Olympus. i think of i've got in undemanding terms ever met one bona fide worshipper of Apollo, and that i loved him very lots. And in deadly earnest, i've got faith, with no need any top information of it, that faith (believing in god/s) is a organic functionality of the human recommendations that has something to do with the comparable spontaneous mutation that gave us speech, language and reason some thirty-5 thousand years in the past. a minimum of that's obtrusive that language and faith look at with regard to the comparable time in human evolution. humorous, it basically handed off to me that, with all this musing aloud, i've got not suggested that i'm an atheist too--information that we atheists are what the Italians call a "herd of cats."

Im Conservative, but I do agree with a lot of Liberal points of view. I guess Im middle of the road.
But I have a seriously liberal friend, and it seems that she is so hung up on how things "should be" that she fails to see reality and will not listen to another's point of view.
I understand a lot of the arguements of liberals. I agree with some, and not others. But, that is my right. It also irritates me when they claim to be so open minded- but refuse to listen to a different POV than theirs.

You have a point, except where conservatives claim that unless you agree with them from soup to nuts, you are an terrorist sympathizer, traitor or un-American, regardless of what the issue is.
I try keep to the issue at hand, and have my facts straight before I make a comment.
Stay on point and stop resorting to berating and name calling, and just plain nastiness,.. please.
But the addition to your answer shows this is merely bait instead of intelegent conversation, yet again.

that's a pretty general and inaccurate claim that can neither be proven or supported with evidence. i guess when someone on the far right says something like all "liberals are communist pigs" then no, that opinion is unacceptable and should be dismissed. if you want to seriously engage in a discussion, liberals are open minded and tolerant and so are conservatives. when you start name calling and finger pointing, it turns into a pissing match.

Debating an issue, and arguing ideology is hardly taking away anyone's freedom of speech. You have every right to say something, and in return I have every right to say I believe you are wrong. Now, if I were to tell you I want you muzzled for what you are saying,THEN you could accuse me of wanting to take away your freedom of speech.
Debating and arguing is human nature.

Yes you're right...the GOP is definatly the party of open minded and tolerant people. People like Rush, Ann and Michael Savage Weiner really define what it means to be tolerant of others.
And seriously...are liberals beating down your door with a gag in hand to shut you up? I think not.

I am open minded to homosexuality, religion, alternative lifestyles, etc. I don't have to like it or participate in it, but these things are choices that other people make or believe in.
What I don't tolerate is closed-mindedness, people who hate, people who don't believe in all freedoms to make individual choices which in my opinion seems to be right wing conservatives.
