There is no place like home but when home can no longer offer you what you want in life then you have to go. Quatar? Personally I dont fancy the Middle East and I would have though that OZ or New Zealand would be the easiest move for a South African. Nevertheless the very best of luck and keep on the site.

For all of you uninformed people out there the Middle East is not just some dangerous "Afghan style" Taliban republic. Read and be educated. The Gulf is safe. I live in the UAE and feel safe. No problems here. Crime rate is low. You will be okay, really!!!!

Im glad it is not me ... Im definately not into the Arab - kidnap you and behead you- thing ... If you were french you may have a chance of coming out alive ... but I doubt any one from SA government would give two hoots if you were captured. (they didnt bother about the guys stuck in Zim remember?)

loads of south africans there .u will be right at home,but yep it is a kak plek.r u only leaving for a spell like most or have u actually done the paper work permanence etc?there is a difference!

You are doing the right thing. Get out while you have a chance!!! I am soo glad I am out of that country!! I was reading the online paper and SA sounds even worse than when I was living there!!!
